Dez Bryant will enter NFL draft after losing appeal with the NCAA.

Oklahoma State wide receiver Dez Bryant said Thursday night that he will enter the 2010 NFL draft.

Bryant was declared ineligible by Oklahoma State after misleading NCAA investigators about his relationship with Deion Sanders.

“This year didn’t go the way I wanted it to,” Bryant said. “I feel this is the best decision for me,” it’s what God wants me to do. I’m going to start my training Tuesday in Tampa.”

Bryant said after being suspended for most of his junior season, he just wants to play again.

“I love the game,” Bryant said. “I have a passion for the game. Football is what I do. And any NFL team that I play for is going to get great effort.”

Boston Celtics meet Rajon Rondo’s price and sign the 23-year old to a 5-year extension.

Up against a Monday night deadline, the Boston Celtics and point guard Rajon Rondo reached an agreement on a contract extension. The deal is reportedly a five year deal and will be worth at least $55 million.

“I’m excited, thankful, humbled,” Rondo said. “Nothing changes, though. There’s still one goal in mind. It’s a great opportunity, but I’m focused on winning a championship.”

Rondo and the team agreed to the deal late Sunday night, thanks in large part to what the 23-year-old guard has demonstrated since training camp began.

General manager Danny Ainge and owner Wyc Grousbeck balked at giving Rondo the kind of deal he wanted because of concern about his leadership skills and integration in the team fabric when negotiations began.

The Celtics and Rondo were faced with a midnight deadline Monday night to work out a deal. Had the sides not been able to come to an agreement on an extension, Rondo would have become a restricted free agent July 1.

Rondo is earning $2.3 million this season in the last year of his rookie contract. He averaged 11.9 points, 8.2 assists and 5.2 rebounds per game last season but pushed those averages to an impressive near triple-double in the playoffs.

The #1 Overall pick will have to wait for his debut. Blake Griffin sidelined with broken kneecap.

The curse of the ugly step child in L.A. strikes again…

It seems like forever that the L.A. Clippers have been battered with injury and misfortune as an organization that has played second fiddle to the L.A. Lakers.

Blake Griffin was, and is supposed to change all that. However, with the opening game of the season set against the big brother Lakers on Tuesday night – the Clippers revealed late Monday evening that their No. 1 overall draft pick has a broken left kneecap.

The stress fracture could sideline the collegiate star for six weeks or more, the team announced. The Clippers have promised to give further information at some point on Tuesday.

Not only will Blale miss opening night, but many more games as the Clippers have a very heavy schedule to start the season with 20 games in that 6-week time frame for Griffin’s return.

The Clippers were excited about the start of this season, as they were the most healthy they have been in years going into the fall. With point guard Baron Davis and center Chris Kaman both ready to play after missing chunks of last season. The Clippers were going to rely heavy on a solid frontcourt nucleus with Marcus Camby, Al Thornton and Rasual Butler alongside Griffin.

Blake says he’s fine and this isn’t of any major concern. He plans to be back out on the court very soon. Let’s hope for the Clippers sake this is true because Griffin is a sure fire lock to be great player. The only thing that could stop that from happening is that jinxed Clippers jersey that he will be putting on most nights in the near future.

Only in the City of Miami…

“At this point in the investigation, detectives cannot confirm what he’s surrendering for. They are interviewing him as we speak. But he did mention that there was a deceased person inside the vehicle which he came in to the police station,” Detective Alvaro Zabaleta said.

The victim has not been identified.

The car was towed to the Medical Examiner’s office. An autopsy will be performed today to determine how the person died.

Just In Case You Missed It…Week #4

Just in case you missed it…Here’s an A – Z Recap!!!

By: Eddie Vickers

It was a long week that saw the Browns choke yet again, a big trade in the NFL, the sports scene in Minnesota restored and a 50 year old record get broken. So if you were napping, we have you covered! Here is an alphabetical look back on the week/weekend that was in sports.

Almost… After leading the entire second half Cleveland gave up the game tying touchdown and was able to block the point after forcing overtime where they lost 23-20 almost beating the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.

Bad Beat… Easily the worst I have experienced. Michigan had a miracle comeback late in their matchup against Michigan State Saturday. Michigan turned the ball over on their first possession of OT. After forcing a 3rd and 11 on Michigan States possession the Spartans cracked a 20 yard run to score and touchdown and cover the 4.5 point spread by a point.

Clemson… As a highly priced 12.5 point favorite, the Clemson Tigers were upset by the Maryland Terrapins thanks to a 17 point 2nd quarter.

Dodgers… Despite having a better record, the Los Angeles Dodgers enter their NLDS series against St. Louis as the underdog. Book makers have the Dodgers listed as a +125 dog at home.

Edwards… It was announced Wednesday that troubled receiver Braylon Edwards has been dealt from the Browns to the Jets.

Favre… At age 86 err, 40 Brett Favre puts on another show on Monday Night helping to cash Minnesota backer’s tickets with ease.

Georgia… The Bulldogs are listed as a 2 point underdog at Tennessee this week, after a loss last week to LSU, this line is by far the most puzzling of the week for College football bettors.

Hockey… The NHL kicked off another season this weekend. It featured games played in 5 different countries including Canada, USA, Finland, Sweden and England.

In Case You Missed It… Is now published on the blog every Wednesday from here on out. This gives time for the games to finish and it to be written on Tuesday. If you have your own comments feel free to email the site.

Joe Flacco… After hanging in there the entire game at New England, Joe Flacco led the Ravens on what seemed to be the winning touchdown drive. Unfortunately this drive was halted in the red zone thanks to two dropped passes by Ravens receivers.

Killing… Is what the public bettors are making. After another amazing week of NFL Favorites cashing in at the window we are left to wonder how long until the stats begin to even out and the ball starts to bounce the other way.

Losers… After a quarter ways through the NFL season, the Titans remain winless after having the best record in the NFL a season ago. The Bucs, Rams, Browns, Chiefs and Panthers also get the award of shame.

Minnesota Madness… The Twins beat Detroit in a one game playoff for the playoffs, the Vikings are undefeated and it’s all happening under one roof! Its one great day if you’re a Minnesota sports fan.

New York… The Yanks were installed as -300 favorites to win their first game at home against Minnesota and were favorites to win the World Series. What a difference a year and 100 million dollars makes.

Open For Business…After watching the success the 49ers are having this season, Michael Crabtree is open for business and is willing to negotiate a contract with the team after holding out for better offers.

Publicity or Scandal…David Letterman admits to having sex with other women while being married? I feel worse for the secretary who wrote the guy letters which are being released to the public on his show Wednesday night.

Quinn… Brady Quinn was benched by Browns head coach Eric Mangini, and appears to be staying there for a long time after Derek Anderson scores more offensive touchdowns in Sunday’s game then Cleveland did the last 8 total games.

Remember the name… Mohammed Massaquoi; Browns receiver who will now be the go to guy with Braylon Edwards out of the lineup. Fantasy players; don’t say I didn’t warn you when someone else picks him up in your league.

Saving St. Louis? If the Cardinals don’t go deep in this years MLB post season, it could be a long winter for St. Louis fans as the Blues and 49ers appear to be worse then ever.

Tebow…College Football and religions golden boy Tim Tebow remains out of practice with a concussion. His status is unclear for Saturday’s primetime CBS matchup against LSU.

Underwood… Carrie Underwood, American Idol sensation and ex girlfriend of Tony Romo is planning to release her new Album on November 4th. This is one of the highest anticipated country album releases since Garth Brooks released his greatest hits one compilation back in the 1990’s.

Very Easy Victory… Is what bookmakers are assuming for team USA in the presidents cup this year. Installed as -310 favorites, team USA is filled with star power from Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. If you’re looking for the internationals to win by 2 points or less you can find prices in the +1100-+1400 range.

WNBA… You may have not known, or more importantly may not have cared but the Indiana Fever have taken a 2-1 lead over the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA finals. Game four is set for Wednesday night on ESPN2.

eXceptional… Entourage aired their season 6 finale on Sunday. If you have not yet caught on to this show episodes are available in the video blog. As a fan of TV myself, I can honestly say that this one episode of the show blows any CSI or sitcom finale clean out of the water, truly exceptional work by the writers and cast.

You May Have Missed It… Which is why I write this article, in the battle of Alberta between the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames, Oilers goalie Nikolai Khabibulin made a controversial play late in the game with the score even at 3-3 to play the puck. After fumbling the puck he shot it right to a Calgary Flames forward David Moss who scored the go ahead goal with 45 second left to play. The Flames were listed as a 5 cent underdog in this game.

jay- Z… Broke the record for most US number one albums previously held by Elvis Presley with his Album Blueprint 3 last week. It was confirmed by Billboard.com and Billboard magazine.

He is “THE KING” did you think after causing trouble with him you wouldn’t be exiled Braylon?

The Cleveland Browns have agreed to trade troubled wide receiver Braylon Edwards to the New York Jets on Wednesday morning.

Terms of the deal are still being finalized but it is believed the Jets agreed to send key special teams player Jason Trusnik, wide receiver Chansi Stuckey and a pair of draft picks to Cleveland. The draft picks are the final details of the trade and are believed to be a 3rd and 5th round selections.

There was talks swirling since the off-season that Edwards would be dealt. Then there was talks he would be out by the trade deadline. After a game on Sunday where he was catchless against the Bengals he found a way to make the headlines in other ways…

Late Monday morning outside an Ohio night club Braylon Edwards caused some trouble with Lebron James and friends. Finally punching one of Lebron James friends and sending him to the ground. Charges were not filed, but Lebron James went on to say it is a jealousy thing with Braylon. This seemed to be the last and final straw for coach Eric Mangini and the Cleveland Browns.

There is no doubt Edwards has talent, and could potentially be a top 7-8 wide receiver in this league but; it has widely been discussed that his first priority is being a celebrity rather than a football player. Let’s see if that improves any in the big city of New York.
